The Village of Colonie Planning Commission is made up of a 7 member Commission of Village residents. The Planning Commission is the authorizing body and empowered to approve all plans, plots and plats of any subdivision of lands showing lots, blocks or site, with or without new streets or highways in the Village of Colonie. The Commission is responsible for approving or disproving any new owners and tenants within the Village and to preserve the health, safety and welfare of the community.

The Zoning Board of Appeals is made up of a 5 member Board of Village residents. The Zoning Board of Appeals is the authorizing body to determine whether to grant or deny variance applications. The ZBA balances the hardship to the application, the community and other persons of not granting the variance against the adverse impact on the health, safety and welfare of persons affected, the adverse impact on the property affected and any other adverse impacts of granting the special variance.

Village of Colonie Registration Day for the March 19th, 2024 Village of Colonie election, will be held on Saturday, March 9, 2024 from noon until 5pm at Village Hall, 2 Thunder Rd, Albany, NY 12205. If you are not a registered voter with Albany county Board of Elections and wish to vote in the March 2024 election, you must be at least 18 years of age, a Village of Colonie resident of at least thirty (30) days, a citizen of the United States and have not been disqualified by law from voting in Village of Colonie elections. The Traffic Advisory Committee is made up of a 5 member Committee of Village residents. The Traffic Advisory Committee reviews and discusses matters raised by Village Residents and advises the Mayor and Board Trustees of possible solutions.

Village Election for the position of 1 Mayor and 2 Trustees, will be held on Tuesday, March 19th, 2024. Polling Place: Village Hall, 2 Thunder Rd, Albany, NY 12205. Polling hours: 6am to 9pm. If you’re not sure if you are registered to vote, please contact Albany County Board of Elections at 518-487-5060.

Village Offices, DPW and Recreation Center will be closed. Garbage & recycling pickup will remain the same.
