The Village of Colonie Building Department/Code Enforcement is responsible for enforcing the Village of Colonie Code and the New York State Fire Prevention and Building Code. Steve Meservey is the head of this department, that performs the issuance of all building permits and the inspections of all new and existing construction in the Village of Colonie. Additionally, the Code Enforcement personnel work closely with the Village of Colonie Planning, Zoning and Sign Commissions.

Biography
Steve Meservey is the head of the Building Department, and has been a Building and Fire Inspector with the Village of Colonie since June 2019. He is certified by the state of New York as a Building Safety Inspector and Code Enforcement Officer. Steve is a New York State Professional Firefighter and Emergency Medical Technician with the City of Albany since 1998. He has lived in the Village since 2010 and is actively involved with Colonie Village Boy Scouts Troop 278 as an Assistant Scoutmaster.

Randy Rivera has been a building and fire inspector for the Village of Colonie since June 1, 1995. Randy is also the Storm Water Management Officer for the Village of Colonie. He is Code Certified by the NYS Department of State. He is a member of the NYS Building Officials Capital District Chapter. Randy is a longtime resident of the Village of Colonie. Randy has been a volunteer fire fighter since 1976, and a volunteer with the Village of Colonie Fire Company since 1988.
